Loved the plot/story! Didn’t expect as much angst for some reason. Definitely would be happy never reading the word ‘mons’ in a romance book ever again though

The only thing going for this book is the Russian mafia lore but the plot is meh and the last third of the book was purely annoying.

*Re-read this after a conversation with some friends about Russian tattoos :D

This book was pure unadulterated naughtiness and kink throughout. If you are looking for a guilty pleasure you've definitely found it. If your only foray into BDSM is 50 Shades of Grey then welcome to the real thing. This book is everything FSOG was not. My only issue with the story was that both books involve a traumatic event in the lover's life that contributed to their introduction to the BDSM lifestyle. It would lead one who is not personally knowledgeable in BDSM to believe that it's somehow an expression of deviant needs.

YUM!

Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I enjoyed it but some of the writing was so cheesy and pulled me out of the story. Definitely dark and explicit. Liked the characters but it was a lot.

I’m rounding this one up to 3 stars because ultimately, I was entertained enough to keep reading, even if I did roll my eyes a lot while doing it.

If you’re looking for a naïve, blushing virgin, you won’t find one here. Natalie is well-versed in porn and has a toy collection. Personally, that doesn’t bother me but what did bother me was just how much she was focused on sex—I don’t think I’ve encountered a hornier virgin. Her nipples were always perking up in the unlikeliest of situations and she’d be clenching her thighs in response to just about anything. I wasn’t sure what KC’s point was with this… that Natalie was very willing? Point taken, I guess.

Fortunately, her overt sexual desperation was broken up by periods of reasonable sanity in which I could actually relate to her.

The timing of when she lost her virginity was, frankly, dumb.

Who the hell is like, “My dad got shot and killed in front of me a few hours ago. Time to finally lose that virginity!” Natalie, that’s who.

Sevastyan was fine. He did not particularly stand out among the many mafia MMCs I’ve gotten acquainted with over the years. I did like how possessive he was, and how he lost his damn mind when Natalie tried to leave him. Also, his dirty talk was on point.

KC can write some pretty spicy sex scenes, I’ll give her that. While the book wasn’t lacking in that department, it wasn’t enough to carry the whole thing and I think it would have been more enjoyable if we got less of Natalie salivating over Sebastian and his joystick at every opportunity and obsessing about losing her virginity to him. Anyway, I heard the next book is where the party’s at and so far I’m enjoying it more than this one.

Omg I know mafia books are generally silly but this one is just too much for me. I can't take these characters seriously

Happy Reading, friends!

I bought this on a whim last weekend. I’m thinking I haven’t tried any romantic suspense so why not give it a go with a Russian mafia erotica storyline?⁣

Deliciousness!!

I enjoyed this book, and it was darker than I expected it to be sexually. However, the BDSM wasn't in the story just to meet the trend in the book industry now, it fit the character and the life he has lived. That being said, I did enjoy the characters and their development. I did find that their conflict became repetitive as they kept coming back to the same issues. I'm excited to move on to the next book.
