Lots of cringe but enjoyable. I like Finn. The main girl was a little annoying. Her best friend sucked ass.

I genuinely don't know where to start with this review because there's just so much that I want to say about it. First, this book had so much potential for me and I was so excited about it and didn't care that it was recommended through BookTok since I was feeling very positive about it. All the tropes and themes seemed like something that I would enjoy and I was at first but as it progressed, I was just not happy with it. I understand what Avery feels and how her weight and looks are something that she's heavily insecure about. However, constantly having her bring that up and even hinder her from growing from it into accepting herself was something that made me dislike this book. There were so many moments when Finn would try to show her how beautiful she was and she would accept it but then moments later, she would go back to her ways. I'm not saying that she would change through one session but to have it happen after every time was just exhausting.

I hate to say it but I liked Finn more than Avery, because as much as I felt for her, she would make decisions that I just started to dislike her. When it comes with her friendship with Palmer, I honestly understand always wanting to be there for her but it was so obvious how much Palmer used Avery. At a certain point it wasn't even about being a people pleaser and I hate to say it but she was literally a doormat. She never stood up for herself and I guess you can say that once Avery sees the truth that she does but it just didn't feel like anything to me.

I feel like the only thing that made me enjoy this book was Finn and the smut because they truly are the only reason that I continued reading it. I took breaks from it which both helped me get through it but also made me not want to go back to it. I'm not sure if I would recommend this book since there wasn't a lot that I enjoyed. It was a great experience so I would say go for it and just let me know how it goes.

If I'm gonna hear the word "queen" one more time.
Love the aspect of a plus size character learning to love her body, but it was horribly implemented.
Seemingly every woman (except Lex) seems to bodyshame Avery. The only man who finds her attractive and beautiful is Finn. It seems like the author wants to convince us that avery is not beautiful. Absolutely no support from women to women.
Also yes you have insecurities with ur body, but in this book she maybe gained confidence in the last 40 pages and it often sounded like she wasn't even plus size but just a medium sized girl who's sooo different (i realize u can have insecurities as well, but i think it's just so badly worded, that it doesn't resonate with the reader).
Always the "i have more curves, a bigger hip and my tits sag". Just sounds like the typical "i'm not like other girls".
Also unnecessary "maybe threesome" just for a shocking plot twist, where avery maybe leaves? Boooring.

5/5

4.5 stars ⭐️ As a plus size woman that has had experiences similar to the fmc, this book really hit me in the gut. Some of the stuff she dealt with and things that were said to her were hard to stomach at times and brought up a lot of emotion in me. Finn, sweet Finn. Never wavered from his feelings and attraction to Avery. He was perfect for her, and vise versa. The writing in this was so so good, can’t wait to read more from this author.
