This book gave me all the feels! Finn is adorably perfect and I loved the way this story unfolded! If you’re looking for a good hearted, light read then I definitely recommend this book! I wish there was more to their story is the only drawback, I would have liked to see it continue!

There were certain aspects to this book that I really liked but the opposite is also true. It turns out after a few hundred romance books I'm getting persnickety when it comes to nicknames. I thought I would like this one but apparently in my head Queen falls into the same category as Babe; it's for the girls, gays and they's only. I know it's meant in an empowering way but my brain kept going "Yaass Queen"which was not the vibe and was kinda off putting. Finn was unrealistic to me and as much as I read for escapism that level of suspension of disbelief was too much. Avery's journey discovering her self and her finding her confidence was very impactful and had some lines that really hit home. I understand her insecurities but her inability to see the red flags around her and how she kept buying into the bullshit that the people in her life were selling her drove me insane. I wanted to hate Mason (ex) more than I did. Now don't get me wrong, he's a spineless sack of shit and not worth Avery's time or mental space, but for a while I thought he was being vindictive and calculating. In actuality he's simply a coward. The one that is vindictive though is Palmer. I fucking knew that bitch of a so called best friend slept with Mason not only after they broke up but for their entire relationship. That on top of all the little digs and comments Palmer said to Avery over their 20 year friendship shows that she did far more damage to Avery's self-esteem than her ex did. Towards the end it really dragged. It could have been 100 pages shorter. There were aspects of the writing I found impactful but the plot of the story was frustrating. I wanted to love it more than I did.

The whole book you hate Palmer and then at the end you really hate Palmer. I hope she eats shit. Anyways this book was HOT and the no third act break up made me really happy. I like that he never shyed away from his feelings towards her and that they got to work through the scary crazy things together like other woman making out with her (its all fine dw)
4.5 stars ⭐️ As a plus size woman that has had experiences similar to the fmc, this book really hit me in the gut. Some of the stuff she dealt with and things that were said to her were hard to stomach at times and brought up a lot of emotion in me. Finn, sweet Finn. Never wavered from his feelings and attraction to Avery. He was perfect for her, and vise versa. The writing in this was so so good, can’t wait to read more from this author.
Okay I have been loving this so MUCH. The gasp I gusped at “…here’s how the next 5 minutes are going to go………….. How’s that sound?” I FREAKED. SO GOOD.
Did Finn overuse Queen? Probably a little but screw it, he’s trying to show her that she IS a Queen and deserving and worth more than she’s had.
Anyways love love love it was spicy spicy and amazing, thank you NetGalley and the publisher! I’ve been squealing and kicking my feet
