First things first. And this is really important. Why, oh WHY is Kil's first book cover so corny!? The Galactic Order covers were mostly really good, especially Shadow Assassin. So I was shocked to see this for Kil. FOR KIL! I wanted so much better for him...

Okay, so. I have loved Kil since the moment we met him and could not wait to jump into his book. He is hilarious and vicious and I just love him. Yes, that needed to be repeated. Getting this book was a great way to start his story because, as it says, it happens before the events in the Galactic Order series and we finally meet the girl that he has so desperately been searching for there.

We start off with Kil's ship having been damaged in battle and the closest place to fix it would be Earth. He's been here before so he thinks it'll be a simple thing to get the materials required and go on his way. And sure, that was the easy part. The hard part comes when he meets a human woman that has snared his attention so completely he wants to steal her away and keep her forever.

Theo lives with her aunt and uncle in a small country town. Her mother abandoned her and her brother when she was just 2, and when her brother turned 18 he also left. He's been a terrible brother, so when he starts calling all the time to try and get her to come with him, she's more angry than happy. She loves her life there and can't imagine leaving. Even if her dream is to travel. Which is an interesting contradiction. Life is simple for her until Kil and two of his men show up at the scrap yard her uncle owns looking for parts. And the next thing she knows, the three of them are living in her basement and completely involved with her life. Which leads to many funny times.

Kil is a terrible flirt and Theo doesn't know how to act around him, making things all that much more enjoyable for him. But Kil can never forget that he will be leaving her soon and he doesn't want to hurt her. Too late for that because Theo has already gotten super attached to him in the few weeks he has been there, as he has her. But any time left disappears when Theo's brother shows up again and makes a connection that outs what Kil and his men are. Forcing Kil to admit to all he's done to her and her family and facing the hurt and anger directed at him after.

Definitely a cliff hanger ending, so I'm thrilled his next book should be out next month. I can't wait.

Kil is such a ridiculous funny loud guy and given how eager I was to get to his story, this was so worth it and I basically devoured this and started the sequel as if it's one book together.

Long awaited Kil is here!

I loved this so hard. I was so curiously who he was searching for. It was so awesome. I highly recommend to sci-fi readers everywhere.

This was the perfect start to the new series. I loved Kil's character in War for Earth and watching him slowly unravel over the course of books was painful. We always knew a human woman had something to do with it, now we know the details and Kil has every reason to unravel, on a capricious whim he did something that bad and while he knew it afterwards, he compounded the error over and over. Poor Kil and poor Theo, I can't wait to read the next book, which should be out very soon and I hope she went missing because a certain someone was making up for his own errors.

Someone mentioned the cover. It all comes down to personal taste, personally, I love this colour and the title just fits with the theme of the Kilvan, Kil and the book.
