What a fantastic ride!

This book just didn't pack the emotional punch I was expecting from a 560 page book. The parts that followed Helen and Aaron didn't grab me at all and I didn't feel like I ever connected with either of their characters. The historical segments of the book were interesting but not enough to make it more than a 3 star book for me.

This book just didn’t hit the mark for me. I usually enjoy historical fiction, but this one was rather bland and boring. I found the writing to be uninviting and overly wordy- the book was hundreds of pages longer than it needed to be. Unfortunately, I struggled to finish this and was not excited whenever I went to pick it up to work my way through it.

I am ranking this book amongst my favourite books of all time! Closely resembles The English Patient which also spanned time and had wonderfully developed, believable, complex characters with whom you become invested over the course of the story. I had a tear in my eye when it ended. Truly a masterpiece of writing, emotion and research.

This book is a great read for many. For me, it was a bit too slow moving and detailed.

what an incredible book! it's clear it took a massive amount of research to create, and the result is shockingly beautiful. being in the worlds of this book for the past few weeks has been a pleasure
