Loved this book. It is worth the hours of reading, re-reading, & every google search for a more intimate  comprehension. This book is a wonderful story to share. It implores you to consider the value & power of one’s thoughts on freedom & the meaning of existence from our vantage point in the here & now. Highly recommend.

Weighty, yes, but also a really compelling read. Went through this way more quickly than anticipated.
I feel like I need to offer a tip of the hat to the characters. Aaron, welcome to grown-ups-vile.
Ester, you do you!

This book was a journey: academics on the trail of a hidden narrative with a slow reveal of discovered documents. This was one that requires you to slowly go at it as there are several stories going on and a lot of history that you are learning.

loved this book and cruised through it much faster than I usually read books. I got completely absorbed in the world and the characters lives. The way that Rachel Kadish kept the plot unexpected and turning made it feel more like a mystery than historical fiction. I already miss the time I got to spend with it. Only reason for docking the 0.25 star is because at (rare) times the narration was a little awkward/hadn't quite settled into its pace yet.
