A wonderful book; worth your time!

This book reminded me somewhat of a cross between The Goldfinch and A Gentleman in Moscow. It had the beauty and simplicity of Gentleman with the historical/somewhat high brow concept of Goldfinch. A lovely payoff and a beautiful story. I expected to enjoy this one (England and Jewish literature are both my “thing”), and it lived up to my hopes. Highly recommend.

4.5 for me but not quite a 5.

I loved this!! A long and interesting read. A complicated historical novel which goes from the 1600's to Israel to Modern London, but this is so wonderful!!

I am so grateful to my friend who recommended this one to me. I could not put it down. Loved every page.

In many ways, this book reminds me of Possession, though without the romance part. Which in some ways is refreshing. I think it went a little too pat at the ending, but that is personal taste.
