This is a whimsical, slightly dark world exploring the supernatural and complicated relationships. I listened to the full duology in a single recording and absolutely loved it.

The novella muddles through some setting changes, and while I was very engaged and invested in it early on... It all came across a bit disjointed at first.

I did really enjoy it once it hits its stride, though, and I liked the final conclusion for our woods and our characters. It built on the mythology and mysteries from the first book, and the emotional journey were carried through was poignant and ultimately hopefully.

The plot moves slowly for most of the boom, but then suddenly very quickly. Which actually ends up suiting the novella extremely well.

I liked the first one better although this was still great. I think the first one did well as a short story but I wish Tesh spent more time on this one and elongated this. It needed more detail and more world and character building. It would've made the story more impactful

4 stars for the relationship and emotional angst between Finch and Silver, but 2 stars for the plot.

The fae element was such a rushed mess here ;___;
