This is a gorgeously written and heartbreaking memoir exploring the depths of family, grief, and trying to exist as yourself. Truly beautiful.

Well-worth all the hype! The book took a slightly different turn than what I was expecting, but I appreciated the themes of adopting and embracing our parent's cultural heritage and identity even though we might not share all of the same experiences with them. Definitely made me reflect on my relationships with my family and was a sobering reminder yet again that life is unfair, so we should cherish the life and love that we do have while we have it.

My one critique is that I thought the last few chapters fell a bit flat. Other than that, loved how beautifully heart-wrenching her writing style is. (My sister says that the audiobook is even more  moving with her as the narrator, which might be a good alternative if you want that)
