Like so many, I picked up this book thinking it would be reminiscent of the incredible Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. At first, I thought I was right, but unfortunately, this book fell flat. A story about a budding comedienne requires one who’s actually funny. Fanny isn’t as funny as she’s given credit for and everyone treats her as if she’s the best thing that’s strut onto the stage but I don’t feel that she ever rose to the occasion. I spent 400 pages waiting for her POW moment, but it sadly never came.
