Stunning. Only word for it. The vignette style was the perfect vehicle for this interesting, thought-provoking little story. The characters were all interesting, if not completely fully realized, which is why this isn't a full five star read for me. But I cannot wait to see what Luchette comes out with next because this book was a triumph. And that cover!

Luchette’s writing is so observant. I felt immersed in every room and situation because of little details like specific mentions of food or the imagery of a game of operation being played during a conversation. Incredible writing full of wit and scenes of quiet friendship. Beyond the general brilliance, this book spoke to some core questions and thoughts I’ve had regarding religion and how I’ve come to understand why I couldn’t align myself with the church I was raised in. Overall, amazing.
