Roald Dahl is delicious and this book is no exception. The kids had quite a few laugh out loud moments helped in no small way by Mr. Blake's humorous illustrations.
Children's book (young children) with adult humour and references for when you read aloud. Mixture of disturbing images, ideas and solutions but humorous nonetheless

I have no words to describe how bad it was. It is a recipe for children to kill people and then celebrating and promoting the person for inventing this poison. Yes it is written on the first page to not attempt it at home but how can you expect children to not do things they are told to STRICTLY NOT DO!
I mean you should not call it children’s literature. How is this even selling??? Was it never banned???
I will never recommend this book to a child. Not even children but even adults. Please keep yourself away from this atrocity!!!

Empieza muy bien, pero quizás el final pierde un poco. Aún así, un clásico de Roald Dahl que siempre merece leerse.

Huh! Roald Dahlin lastenkirjat yllättävät joka kerta, joskaan eivät aina positiivisesti.
Ilmarilla on ilkeä mummo, josta käytetään aika rajuja nimityksiä, kuten "vanha ämmä". Ilmari on päättänyt keittää tehokkaan lääkkeen, jolla Mummosta tulee kiltti ja herttainen, niin kuin mummojen tulee olla. Lääkeseokseen heitetään mm. pakkasnestettä, karvapoistoainetta ja kengänkiilloketta - melkoinen myrkkysoppa siis kyseessä. Aineella onkin Ilmarin toivoma räjähtävä vaikutus, mutta pari odottamatontakin käännettä tarinassa tulee.
Taoksella on kiehtovia yhteyksiä brittiläisen lastenkirjallisuuden klassikkoon, Liisan seikkailuun ihmemaassa sekä uudempaan klassikkoon Harry Potter ja Azkabanin vankiin.
En uskaltaisi suositella tätä teosta ääneen luettavaksi rajun kielenkäytön vuoksi. Minusta tuntuu myös, että Ilmarin lääkkeseoksen tekeminen saattaisi houkutella useimpia lukijoita kokeilemaan vastaavaa itsekin. Tiedän, että itse ainakin olisin lapsena kokeillut sekoittaa Ilmarin mallin mukaista keitosta.
