I read the Scots language version of this book to my 8 year old daughter and it was a lot of fun to try to read out loud in Scots. A really silly book. Just the sort that kids of a certain love.
basically, every one love roald dahl. what's not to love about his classics?
Thoughts during the book:
-Wow, this grandmother is horrible.
-This kid is mixing poisonous ingredients to give to his grandmother!
-Nooo, don’t feed it to the animals!
-I can’t believe the dad is okay with replicating this recipe for profit
-well, now the grandmother has shrunk to nothingness
-his family are unbothered by the loss of the grandmother. Maybe it’s for the best, they say.
What a rollercoaster this story was. I love that his stories are cheeky and morals are not exactly great for children but they are entertaining as fuck.

So much fun! Read this out loud to my kids and they laughed so much! Grandma got what she had coming 🤣
Just finished this with my youngest. It will always be a magical book for me. I read this in grade school. It was my first from this author and one of the first I remember being swept away by the magic of a book.
Read this to my 6 and 4 year old daughters who absolutely loved it, they were giggling and laughing as George and his Dad ran around giving their animals the medicine and how each batch had different results.
Essentially this is a story of a young boy being so run down by his verbally abusive grandmother, he mixes up a number of different liquids, solids, gels, polishes and pills to make her a new “medicine” that ends up causing her to shrink out of existence.
What on Earth were we allowing Dahl to teach children!
But there are a couple of people that I would love to feed Marvellous Medicine number 4, definitely some people that need to be shrunk out of existence!
