Last time I read this was at least 33 years ago and the book is still a hilarious combination of fantasy and slapstick. Poor George has to live with his awful, selfish and nagging old grandma, so he fixes her a medicine of his own. Frankly, this part is a little disturbing as George mixes several lethal ingredients (e.g. antifreeze) into his magic potion. Don't try this at home! But this is a children's book, so George's potion doesn't kill, but has some unexpected effects. But can he remember the recipe?

'George's Marvelous Medicine' may not be entirely convincing, and even a little unsettling, but George's grouchy grandma is so delightfully appalling, it's great fun to see her being punished.

had to read this for a college assignment, dont normally read children's books but for what it is this book is very captivating and well written

A fun to read tale. Good for any age!
funny lighthearted

Disappointed how slow it was, would give it a 3. A lot of the story on making the potion. Once he'd made the potion, more enjoyable. My 6 year old seemed to enjoy it though and gave it a 4. Suitable for year 2/3 at school .
