Great for kids - pure fun and whimsy. A very simple plot and a quicker listen honestly. The characters are like a fairy tale meets a regular kid.
This book is bizarre. I can see the whimsy and humor in it, but it also made me wince and wonder how many young readers had subsequently poisoned someone. Not my favorite Dahl book.
Not sure really what to say about this book except that now I know where the idea for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came from. So far in many of his books, the parents are either stupid or mean, or both.

I understand this is a kid's book, but I would never read it to any child.
Read aloud to Maggie and Charlie. They liked it a lot.
Read this in primary school, even went to see the play with school. Funny story
