If you were to ask me to name an intimidating book that I'd probably never read, one of my answers would have been David Copperfield.
Once Upon A Book Club had it available. I thought perhaps I'd read it with little gifts along the way.
I did!
Not only did I surprise myself by reading it and comprehending it, but I enjoyed it! The characters were so well developed. Some were horrible people and some were hilarious. The character arch of David Copperfield was so fun to watch. I literally laughed out loud in parts and teared up in others.

Apart from A Christmas Carol, this was, by far, my favourite Dickens.

I think dramatised audiobooks are perhaps not for me!

Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. It was just a classic story to listen to and a bit sad.

I will review this book the way it deserves as soon as I manage to stop crying my eyes out.

My favorite Dickens.

I read this book as part of the 2023 Literary Life group challenge. It is an extremely long book, but so worth the investment of time. I have been so immersed in the lives of each character that I am going to miss them all, except for evil Uriah Heep. So far, this is my favorite book of 2023.

Not sure how to rate this. It felt like such a chore to get through, but Dickens probably deserves more than two stars. The third star is maybe a reward to myself for not giving up.

This is a big time sink, but "David Copperfield" is one of the most relatable, most real, most human novels I've read.

I'm sure it's bias and personal preference, but I picked it up after reading Demon Copperhead, but found Kingsolver's loose retelling of the tale much more compelling (not to mention much shorter). Then again Kingsolver did just win a Pulizer for her efforts.
