A fictional autobiography ?
- it does contain many autobiographical elements :: his experiences, his career, the love for his first wife
- but realism ? :: it may show social realities (poverty, child labor, death, ...) but there are 2 figures which are the opposite of realism; symbolism like the book about crocodiles often coming back, caricature as a way to describe characters
