My favourite, by far, of the four novels by this author that I have now read. It contained the 19th century Russian novel's proclivity for portraits of deep and touching humanity, which I found absent in Crime & Punishment and Notes From Underground. I was surprised that Dostoyevsky could be funny. There were many, many laughs, reminiscent of Gogol at his best. Dostoyevsky's proto-existentialism is jarring and childish to me, and his plot construction is pretty weak in general, however this was great and saved me from giving up on him entirely. The audiobook was really well narrated and the different voices employed added to my enjoyment.

Maybe this would be a five-star rating if I hadn't been pathetic and taken almost 6 months to read it. Still, it was good. I understand the reputation of the "The Grand Inquisitor" chapter now. So cool.

One of the best novels in the history of the written word is just not for me. Reading this as a full grown adult in the 21st century is quite different experience than doing so in my younger years. Books 1,9 and 12 were very solid.

Hope you enjoy.

yikes, how I dropped practically everything in my life to finish this four-week loan. So worth it though.

Amazing book. I couldn't put it down. Dostoevsky may be my favorite writer after that. It touches on almost everything it means to be a human and every line means something. I wish there was more about the Brothers.

The lengthy monologues and run on sentences made this hard to get through at times
