I'm not really sure I understand this novel, if I'm going to be honest. The characters feel thin and overwrought, the pacing feels a little wonky (patricide doesn't happen until 75% through the novel), Maybe I'm not Russian enough? But I finished, and I have the same sense of accomplishment as I would had I finished a marathon, lol.

Finally finished my reread and it only took three months. This book is brilliant in its weaving of theology and philosophy into what ends up being a compelling murder mystery. The court scenes at the end were a struggle.
