Hated the lawyer speeches! Felt very self indulgent, otherwise an amazing book. Lot of people talk about Revolutions or The Grand Inquisitor, but Speech at the Stone and Delirium were my favorite chapters. Absolutely incredible. Michael Katz’s translation really managed to maintain a lot of the humor/voice, which was a big reason why I maintained interest for so long. Even as thick books go this was my longest read in a while (life got in the way), but it was so worth it.

Je me suis rendue compte après 500 pages que même s’il y avait des passages intéressants en mode envolée lyrique sur l’existence de dieu, ce n’était tout simplement pas un roman et certainement pas bien édité (normal, publié sous forme de feuilleton à l’époque)
