I’m a huge fan of friends-to-lovers romance but admit that it can be difficult to get the balance right so that it’s not repetitive and a little contrived, conflict-wise. This author gets it absolutely right with Getaway Girl which is the perfect blend of sweet and sexy and an absolute delight to read.

The premise is that aspiring mayor of Charleston, Elijah, is stood up at the altar at his wedding just weeks to the city elections. His bride’s black-sheep-of-the-family distant relative, Addison, shows up to the wedding just at the right moment to help him get away and the two strike up a sweet and solid friendship. But Addison catches feelings and Elijah is not sure he wants to go through another jilting.

This was a really cute read. The writing was busy and fun. The angst wasn’t too deep, and it was super sexy and funny and an absolute delight. I highly recommend this one.
