This was a tad heavy on the religion for me, but a lot of the advice is sound. The experience that the author and her family had with mean girls is something I am terrified about for my own family.

Here Be Dragons was a a good short read to squeeze in between heavier books. It was actually recommended to me by a client, and I can see why it resonated. I really appreciated how Melanie shared her struggles with her mom—it felt honest and relatable without being overly dramatic. One of my favorite parts was how she used her own toxic upbringing as motivation to break the cycle for her daughter. That message really stuck with me. While the writing didn’t always hit for me, the heart behind it was definitely there.
