Maybe it’s the genre, but I found it a waste that there was so many interesting side characters that barely get any page time let alone development. This book really focuses on the lovers’ bubble, antics and all. We don’t even get much play-based content.
I did appreciate the meta moment in the third act, but would have been fine with the book ending then.
I found the writing a little repetitive and some inconsistencies (like the allergy thing?) but a fun, light read overall. I appreciate the Aro/Ace mentions.
The ending reminded me of Sisterhood of the travelling pants.
There was also a bit of misogyny I didn’t appreciate for such a sapphic-norm world (I hesitate to say queer because this book isn’t queer, gay tho for sure.) and just an incredibly white crew of folks. For being a series that relies on key friendships, this book really dropped the ball on including those friendships. The self-centredness was really off-putting.
