Slow going, but my fav of the stars hollow series. Both characters felt like queer people who I’ve interacted with which was nice, since the other books didn’t feel like they’d been fully fleshed out but they were both also so annoying. No 30 year old should have a group chat named cheers for queers please get a personality. The sex scenes were the best of all the books, but still pretty middle of the road. It is a deeply average romance novel. I liked the concept! Romance novel about a romance novelist? Slay! But I think the premise really had nothing to do with the novel and Iris could have been doing literally anything else and the book would have happened almost exactly the same way, save the ending. Stevie is the most annoying character ever written. People who have anxiety and also are interesting and compelling do not use “generalised anxiety disorder” every third sentence, and it really is symptomatic of the thing that annoys me most about these books; The representation is so tell don’t show! We are told that there are trans characters and Latina characters ect, but they have like three lines and no distinct personalities. Yay Representation! There’s a way to do it where it doesn’t feel like you are just ticking boxes.

The 3rd book of Bright Falls was just as amazing as the first two. A little slower in the beginning and the character development took longer than the other two but worth the wait. Iris and Stevie are quite a pair, opposites attract and all that. But learning to love, let go, and accept yourself, is the thing they both have to do, just in different ways. I love all the characters in this series, and kind of want to move to Bright Falls now. Who doesn't love a storybook romance, plus storybook friendships that make everything dark seem a lot brighter?

This book was def one of my favorites in this series. The 3rd act breakup wasn’t the best but it was expected. I’m sad that this series is over but I’ll def be looking out for more books by this author.
