I loved it so much!!
Oh man, I wanted to love this one. I really did because I loved the other two so much. But there were so many moments that threw me out of the book, it was hard to fall in love with the characters.
*why is Iris a romance author? This was never really explored and only served to set up the fake dating plot. Romance author who hates romance—this can be done well! But other than a few meta moments, I was just left confused because there is no indication that Iris loves the genre.
*why do Stevie’s friends treat her like a baby? I’m sorry, but in the theater crew, at least half of em are probably on SSRIs. At least that’s the case with my friend group!
*there are plotlines and conflicts introduced that never get resolved or even hinted back to again, especially related to Iris’s family.

I really enjoyed this book and the main characters. I liked the glimpses at where things were going for the other characters from the other books, although I wished that there was more of Astrid (and Jordan too). The pacing on this one felt a little more uneven and dragged out than the other books in the series. The pacing was great for the first third, then a little awkward for the last third but I can forgive that
I committed to finishing the series. Mostly these were my yardwork companions. Iris as a side character in Delililah's first book made me laugh a little. The Iris here was much flatter, and Stevie, the romantic interest, couldn't have been more paper thin. Just anxiety as a person. This one was so flat that I questioned why I finished the series, but here were are, and I did. AHB did throw in a marriage plot for Claire and Delililah at the end, so they wrapped up the series in a nice little bow for the readers.

I found the characterisation at the beginning clunky and overdone, but once the story started to move along I began to mind a bit less! Not my favourite, but still a sweet read. Glad I persevered!!
