An indulgent K-drama romp that I enjoyed! I would give it another star except for some repetitive styling and vocabulary.
Review coming on day after Pub day (June 5th) as per Publisher request! :) The ARC was a delight.

Full of Korean folklore and mythology, wonderful characters and great banter! I really enjoyed this book!
The story weaved so much great lore into an easy to digest form that I was heavily invested. I love this world.
The characters, Hani and Seokga are complete opposites and I love it. Their chemistry was instant and I loved their banter. The romance felt natural and realistic, which I was worried about. I also didn't mind that it's a closed door romance. It fits the writing style and story.
Side characters like Somi and Hyun-taei were great and their impact was great as well.
The plot was great. There was a little pacing issues but nothing I would consider bad.
If you loved Kpop Demon Hunters or just looking for some contemporary fantasy, give this book a try!

The romance felt too flat and it went from “I hate you” to “I would die for you” too fast for me

As someone who loves the mutual nuisances, petty back and forth dynamic promised in the synopsis, the beginning of this was such a fun time for me. And I also liked getting to learn some of the Korean terminology and mythology, I've never watched any Korean shows or movies but it made me more tempted to try them. Unfortunately, around 20% it started to lose the magic for me. The back and forth started to feel really childish for creatures that have lived as long as they have and if I had to hear about the MMC Seokga sneering one more time, I would've lost it. This had a lot of promise but just didn't quite work for me.
