A truly charming and wonderful read. Agatha Christie at her best. This is my favourite book of hers that I read so far, granted I haven't read them all yet, it still made impression on me and its high rating is something I now understand profoundly.

This book naturally is set in Egypt where a cruise down the river Nile takes place. The Egyptian setting is something exotic yet at the same time provides some comfort for the reader. Together with the characters, we explore the further cataracts of the river as well as new cities and ruins of Ancient Egyptians temples they pass on the way. The atmosphere is truly remarkable.

Additionally to the above in this book the crime is committed rather late. The author is giving us time to calmly observe the relations between people present on the boat, draw our own conclusions and slowly watch how the situation unfolds. One could almost forget that we are reading a murder mystery novel indeed, but fear not, a crime is committed after all, and what a crime it is indeed.

The book provides with some wonderful quotes that stay in memory. The unique situation and the murder itself - as always in the Christie books remains sophisticated. The author is full of wit -in some moments quite literally characters mock things that 'always happen in criminal novels' almost as a wink to the readers. Despite years passing since the publication of the book - it is genuinely fun reading a story set in those time. What is more, I believe many could reflect on how the times have changed in regards to certain aspects presented in the book - I certainly did. This book made me wanna have my honeymoon in Egypt one day. This book kept me engaged and puzzled at times. This book also made me laugh and wonder. For me, this book will remind me of a good time I had while reading it and will take a warm place in my memory. I would recommend it to everyone to give it a try.

Fourth fav by her I read this year! Some of characters kinda dumb but otherwise love the setting and tight action

It’s Agatha Christie at her most unhinged and Poirot at his messiest. Classic set up with all the characters “trapped” in one place, yet there is still so much action. Totally fell for every trap Christie sets, despite knowing that the murders are always committed by the most obvious suspects! Again true to form, the “end” is completely unnecessary à la Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Now I see why this is one of Christie’s most popular books, it is really good. I am looking forward to the perfectly cast movie!

Rereading some oldies but goodies. Enjoyable!

Quick, enjoyable read! I liked this one better than Orient Express. I probably would have gotten more out of it if I was better at remembering names and keeping all the characters straight, but I still enjoyed it!

"Love can be a very frightening thing.’ ‘That is why most great love stories are tragedies."

This quote perfectly sums up the ending of this novel. Just so poignant and tragic. I read this in preparation for my Valentine's Day date to see the new "Death on the Nile" movie and I absolutely cannot wait to see this on the big screen. I loved it. It was slow to begin with but the more the story unfolded, the more sucked in I became. So much interpersonal drama, red herrings and deaths filled the pages that you jumped from one person to another and back again throughout the entire book. I don't want to write too much about the actual plot of the novel but I will say that the it is full of envy, betrayals and lies. This was masterfully done. The more I read of Agatha Christie's works, the more I am convince that she has earned the title "Queen of Crime."

I've read a bunch of Agatha Christie books recently, and this is one of the better ones.
