The plot had great potential but between the novice sleuthing by Cleo and the author’s obvious insertion of feminism in 1899 it fell flat. It’s an easy quick read with lots of tea but don’t expect brilliant detecting.

Mildly entertaining cozy mystery. Mystery and characterization are light.

A wonderful first in a series!
C.J. Archer has a way of writing intelligent, feminine women who aren't infuriating and I LOVE it

Fun setting and cast of characters. The mystery was fine though I kept getting two of the suspects mixed up. Probably my fault.
Moderate: Death and Death of parent
Minor: War

I flew through this book!
It was an easy listen and had some funny moments too.
My only complaint was that while the FMC was smart and headstrong, she made a LOT of assumptions. She also came across as a bit immature at times.
But, all in all, I really enjoyed it and will be continuing with the series.
