This is a fast, fun read. I chuckled throughout.

At first, it seems Nikki and Ainslee couldn’t have less in common. Nikki became a stay-at-home mom against her will when she was fired from her job as an on-air anchor so someone younger could take her place. With four small children and no extra money, she can barely keep all these tiny humans alive and her pants on (with the help of a safety pin).

From the outside, Ainslee seems to have the perfect life. She appears perfectly organized and is always dazzlingly dressed, but when a new coach joins the school, she worries her secrets will be revealed, potentially ending her husband’s campaign and maybe even her marriage. She and Nikki become friends, and Ainslee reveals her past. Together, they work to see if they can get the dangerous-to-young-women-and-girls coach fired.

I enjoyed reading this book! I received it via NetGalley and this it’s a solid debut book. It felt like it had a really good concept and FMCs, but I found myself wishing for more details at various parts of the novel that would have deepened the plot I.e. actually getting to hear Ainsley’s speech.

I liked this book, but I was in a reading slump and it didn’t push me out. It was a cute story, but the ending felt rushed and left me hanging.

Intriguing story but I just feel like it was too drawn out and repetitive.

This book is initially a friendship-focused, coming-of-age (the age coming to is your 30s/40s) story that transforms into a mysterious thriller. This would be very interesting, except the first part drags ON AND ON AND ON AND ON only to wrap up neatly in the blink of an eye. It gave me whiplash, fr.

The thriller portion was interesting, but I never really grasped what's at stake for any of the characters.
Which is crazy considering it's about a murderer-pedophile duo.
I think I mentally checked out when literal moms (you know, the people who are morally and legally obligated to take care of children?) simply
refused to care that their daughters just might be in the presence of a pedophile.

Will revisit one day but it's just not intriguing me lately and I'm tired of seeing it on my "currently reading" 😬

Pretty good for a debut novel!

Funny, complex, real, and a storyline that is believable.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for my E-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I think this was a free Prime selection - when will I learn! Honestly, very predictable with a few eye rolls along the way. Not as DMV (DC, MD, VA) specific as I was hoping, either.
