The book started off a little slow and unnecessarily anxiety-inducing, but about halfway through it picked up, and I couldn’t put the book down. A book about secrets, yes, but more importantly, what two women accomplish when they team up and lean into what they each do best.

4.5 rounded up to five. This was a fun, easy read that sucked me in.

First half: was really enjoying it. I liked the characters and felt like there were some good observations on “grass is greener” mentality / idolizing people’s lives without knowing how it really is. It was extra fun to read as a new mom. (“Motherhood was only easy if you did it the wrong way.”)

Second half: not as good. A lot of the time it felt like the author was trying to make a profound statement about the patriarchy more than establishing a good storyline, and the execution was usually cringey dialogue. (“No one’s gonna believe a couple hysterical moms.”)

The whole premise is also a bit of a contradiction but whatever.
Spoiler(Stripping is nothing to be ashamed of. but only if you do it for a short amount of time because you need the money. but doing it at Lady Godiva’s is fine because it’s the other places that are creepy. but if men come to LG’s, they are creepy.)

Spoilerthey CANNOT JUST FILM WYATT WITH UNDERAGE GIRLS. THAT’S STILL CHILD PORN?!

Overall, it was fine. Read it for the female friendship with some thriller-ish bits sprinkled in.
