Characters are okay. Plot is standard. Resolution felt kinda anticlimactic. The mood is lovely.

audio)Writing 2.5 stars, story 3 stars. Tedious, tedious, tedious, a monotone narrator made it even more so. The story had so much potential, but it fell into a constant need for Mackie to act human. We hear him go over and over his actions way too many times. I just wanted him to shut up and get on with the story already. The world building was very interesting as was the story it just did not fit together well for me.

Weird and creepy, scary and cool, and often pretty gory, especially for YA. Unlike most anything I can remember reading.

Fun but very dark book. Eerily entrancing. I couldn't put it down, but it is definitely dark. I like the development of the story though. Did I mention it's dark? Some language too - it's YA but not touchy feely at all. I will read more of Yovanoff's books though. Really liked this.

I'll be honest I had very highhopes for this book just based off the cover. I really wanted to like, I just couldn't.

The stor was very well written I just couldn't get into it. It starts with this boy named Mackie and he is different be ause he is deafly allergic to all kinds of metals, he also was switched when he was born. These people switched him with a human baby.

The story line was great i just felt like the story moved way to slow and that some parts didn't make much sense. It also wasn't as scary andstrange as I hoped it would be.

The writing wasn't exactly what I would have hoped for. To me it seemed like the author was trying to hard to sound like a teenager. Hrs cussing in this book was ridiculous, I don't know how many times the word gd is in here.

I defintly wouldn't reccomend this book to anyone younger than 16!

Personally the writing felt only okay. It wasn’t anything spectacular. But it wasn’t horrible either. It felt to me as if the only character that developed was Mackie. The other characters felt like they were just kind of there.

The story started out strong. It was creepy and mysterious, but nothing really happened till I was past half way in the book. I was also quite confused at times. There were gaps where the author would jump from one time and place to another on the same page. And I had to try and figure out what was happening all over again.

Although the plot was only alright for me, I absolutely loved the world building. The author went into details of the history of the town, Gentry and explained what everybody felt towards what was happening in the town. I thought the world and ideas in this book were great and original. I don’t think I’ve heard of anything like this before.

Overall the book was okay. I loved some parts, but other parts were just meh.
