This book is simply amazing. I loved it. Divergent has the perfect mid of thrill, romance and a flawed dystopian society. Perfection.

I wish there was a way to add more stars than 5 to the rating scale. Divergent deserves at least 10 out of 5.
Roth creates a society that appears structured and logical on the surface, but is twisted and frail underneath; and incredibly hard to break away from.It is impossible not to relate to Tris, who shows unwavering strength in a struggle to belong. Fears are faced, tears are shed and you fall in love with a girl who stands up for what she believes in: freedom and the ability to be herself.

I cannot wait for the sequel.

Such a great premise and set up! But this reads like it was made to be a Hollywood movie, which is disappointing. Nevertheless, I'll probably read the others in the series.

I'm not sure about the billing as "the next Hunger Games." In many ways, it's much better. Divergent is certainly much better written and the prose itself is much more engaging. The characters too have significantly more depth, the scenery much better defined, and the story can stand on its own without relying on shock value. That said, it's not nearly as tight of a story as the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy (though, to Ms. Roth's credit, this, unlike the Hunger Games, is an actual original work not shamelessly stealing from preexisting Japanese novels *cough* *Battle Royale* *cough* *cough*). It left me wanting more, though, and maybe, unlike the Hunger Games, the trilogy will work as a trilogy with a complete story arc rather than simply existing as a single good standalone novel with terrible sequels following it. Only one way to find out: on to the next!

WOW just WOW. 24 hrs is how long it took me to read this. I even stopped 2 chapters from the end because I didn't want it to end. Then I copped on 10mins later and devoured the finish. I even reread the last conversation between Tris & Tobias about 10 times and savoured it!

Now don't get me wrong..this is no literary masterpiece. I had read the first chapter or so free on my kindle and really wasn't impressed. But the reviews were so good I went ahead & got my library to get it for me (didn't even want to spend my money on it).
And there are definitely holes in the plot. I don't know why society has ended up the way it has and who decided on factions etc. I was quiet confused at times......but here's the thing..I didn't care, I just wanted more and more and more.
Once Tris picks her Faction and gets into her training I just couldn't put it down. I loved all the different characters and their progression through the story and I like how Roth doesn't shy away from some serious culling. It gets quiet gritty and dark in places which makes it more realistic.

Now my only major problem is that I have to wait until MAY for Insurgent. How will I survive. I guess I'll just have to read the next book from my list of gazillion to books to be read:)

P.S. Tobias = Swoon
