this is my 2nd book by this author and omg i’m definitely falling in love with his stories. my first ever book was shiver which i also loved and this one was SO good too!

i loved seeing how this spiral thingy affected everyone in this town, the perspectives really helped flesh out the story and make it real.
i also found myself feeling for this couple that wasn’t allowed to stay together, i thought they were so cute the way they did everything to stay with each other. 🥺
i also found Shuichi’s parents fascinating, specifically how they both dealt with this spiral mania, it was so creepy!

i loved the artwork, it was absolutely brilliant. i don’t have a spiral phobia at all, but something about this artwork did make me feel unsettled. 😂 it actually felt realistic. it keeps fascinating me how the author can come up with these unique stories!

as much as i loved this book, it did become a little unhinged at the end regarding Kirie, hence the 4 stars, but i enjoyed the story in general and highly recommend checking it out. junji ito is definitely on my radar from now on and i hope he comes out with a new book soon cos i’ll be getting that shit ASAP.

bizarre and twisty (spiral-y?) and lots of fun in a gory creepy junji ito way. I felt fond of the two main characters even though they didn't have a whole ton of chemistry or development. the ending was odd but fitting. definitely looking forward to reading more!
