A fascinating — if not overly detailed — look inside the life of an American icon: a creative woman balancing husband(s), family, and creative vision against a backdrop of poverty and political pulls.

Dorothea Lange was a very neat human being. Her attentiveness to her subjects, her attempt at democratizing art and photography, her dedication to stories and lives. Wow. The biographer wasn't the most articulate but I was enthralled by Lange as a subject.

A good overview and contextualization of Lange's photographs. I enjoyed thumbing through this alongside [b:Mary Coin|15808322|Mary Coin|Marisa Silver|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1356056883s/15808322.jpg|21532961], seeing the real counterparts alongside their fictional interpretation.
