What can I say, these short stories were sensational! I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of them. They were all a little “off” what you’d expect, and that’s what made them so good. I need to pick up more of Laura Lippman’s books.

This is the first thing I've read from Lippman and it was a very interesting collection of thrilling tales. Some were genuinely funny and others kept me guessing. Recommended for readers that want a bit of suspense with a twist here or there.

I can’t put my finger on it but some of these stories really bothered me. And while that’s okay in fiction sometimes, I don’t think it was a good thing.

Seasonal Work x Laura Lippman is a collection of short crime stories. They started off slow, but once I got hooked on the story, it pulled me in. Some shocking ends that I did not see coming. My favs were: Seasonal Work, Waco 1982, Tricks and Cougar

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Soundtrack: Two Black Cadillacs x Carrie Underwood

What stand alone Laura Lippman novels should I get into?

"They had been friends for about ten years. If they had met when Kelley was single, Kelley often admitted to herself, a friendship might have been impossible. She would have felt competitive with Amy, the kind of bright spark who drew men. There was a line in a movie in which a woman said men were always crossing rooms to talk to her best friend. That's what life would have been like if she and Amy were both single."

Enjoyed this collection of Baltimore-based short stories. Nice range of themes, often with a twist ending.
