An unnessecarily ambiguous poetic lesson on the origin and descent of the Greek gods & a whole lot of incest. A bit dull, even with all the linguistic theatrics.

Highly enjoyed this translation by Kimberly Johnson. The wording is carefully crafted and elevates a set of poems which, although fundamental to understanding Greek mythology, are somewhat dry. The humor is especially drawn to the forefront in Works and Days.

For anyone interested in one of the key foundation texts for Greek myth this is a great translation, that being said the author doesn't do much to help the clunky format Hesiod left us. You'll find yourself flitting between the book's name index and the page you're reading more than you'd like giving a fractured experience to the book.
It does what it says on the tin just perhaps not as smoothly as one might want.
