to be honest, I wasn’t a fan of this book. I disliked most of the characters, finding their decisions baffling most of the time. As a Rizzoli and Isles book (I read a couple years ago), I was expecting their relationship to be included, but there was no sign of Isles at all, which made Rizzoli less likeable and sometimes unbearable, and more obvious that she would solve the case independently. If you were just starting out with this series, I’d definitely give this book a miss.

0/10 no bears involved, disappointing.
I truly don't like to give books low ratings and this doesn't get a one star because I still enjoyed the process of reading it...just, you know, not for the reasons I think any author wants. I don't think I like crime procedurals, and this was written at the height of CSI's popularity, and it read like CSI fanfic. Which might be PRECISELY what you are looking for. I can see this being the sort of book someone finds comforting and thrilling and cheesy all at the same time - I just don't think it's quite mine.
I do love reading crime based books set in Boston, though. My husband and I like to guess how many pages it'll be before the new BPD building in Roxbury is described. Was especially charmed by frequent references to "the Back Bay". Never have I read of so many people who just...don't use the T. Ever. Lol.
