I'll be reaching for this again when the waves of pain become too much for me to bear. I found myself within these pages. Truly comforting.
I liked it but maybe my current mood doesn't really appreciate the theme of this poetry so I can't say that I could relate to most of the poems. But still, good poems.
This book is very “ego” centric to me idk.. Finally pushed through and read to the end, and just found myself feeling needlessly closed off and guarded. What is that going to solve? Nothing. Just not my thing
I’m a very very huge fan of poetry. Through all that I’ve been through I look at that words of others hoping to find a similar pain in their stories. In Najawas Zebians book, I found so many poems that made my heart cry due to the fact that I too have been left behind by people who I would’ve moved mountains for. This book touches upon mostly healing after a breakup as well as learning to love yourself. I feel as though this book would be hard to relate to if the one reading it had not gone through a breakup. Despite this, the writing was incredible so the reader could still enjoy it. I can usually pick up a poetry book and finish it in that same sitting. This did not happen with this book and I can’t really pin point why. Nevertheless I enjoyed this book and if someone were to look to poetry to heal after a breakup, this would be the book.

I was at a bit of a loss for how to rate this one. A lot of the poems in here were a solid 5 stars - they were vulnerable, beautiful, and raw. Other poems in here were maybe 3 stars - they kinda just felt like filler.
There was some very solid advice though
