I thought this book explored the history of the Civil Rights movement in a clear and concise way for a 7-10 year-old. Since it is for such a young age, they did a fairly good job to convey the oppression and violence that happened against those protesting and advocating, without being too graphic, but also without eliminating any mention of the violence. The text was fluid in its explanation of more difficult terms and talking about the different aspects of the Civil Rights Movement. While I would not have this be the only book on Civil Rights in my library, it is an excellent introduction for the age it's geared towards.
