Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this advanced e-copy.

The summer is coming to a close for me and I am fully ready for cozy hoodies and crunchy leaves and all the cute romances and spooky ghost stories. The cover on this one is ADORABLE.

We follow Ellis as she's navigating an axis-tilting shift in her reality. Her parents are taking some time apart and she is moving from NYC to tiny Bramble Falls with her mother while things smooth out. She has aspirations of becoming a big-time journalist like her father and going to Columbia at the end of her senior year. Bramble Falls is not what she wants at this point in time. Especially when she sees her former friend, Cooper, w0rking at the coffee shop. Bro has some obvious disdain for her and it takes some time for her to crack through his walls and find out why he is so upset with her.

Along her emotional journey of falling back into love with Cooper, she makes a core group of friends and has the coziest time doing some very small-town Gilmore Girls-esque festivities.

This was cozy and a pleasant reading experience. My only complaints are Ellis's absolutely irrational snap decisions. Come on, girl! Think before doing the things! And then the fact that it wasn't revolutionary. Nothing unique happened. It was just pleasant and cute.

Thank you, Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing, and Misty Wilson, for giving me the arc to review this book!

Ellis abruptly moves from New York City to small town Bramblefalls at the beginning of her senior year. Her parents are in a rough patch, and all Ellis has done for her whole life is vie for her dad's attention and appreciation. Ellis has big ambitions... or maybe it's her dad's, but she fears all her work to get into Columbia is going down the drain, being stuck in this small autumnal town. Ellis has a passion for sewing and fashion design, but that spark of creativity blew out long ago until Bramblefalls. This town brings out her true self, and she starts to fall in love with this cozy autumnal town and maybe even the people within it....

The cozy fall atmosphere is here! Bramblefalls is such a nice setting and definitely took inspiration from Gilmore Girls. When the leaves start to fall and a breeze blows throughout the town, it transforms into a fall festival. Every weekend for two months, this town puts on fall-themed activities. I got fomo and wish my town did something like this. If you want a good cozy autumn book with a smidge of drama, this book is for you.

The romance is a second-chance relationship. They met a few summers ago and became really close friends, for Ellis to leave and go back to the city. Cooper is a very cute, loyal love interest who helps Ellis come into her own. Their interactions and watching their relationship grow throughout the story were really cute. I was rooting for these two from the second they were in their first scene together. It is also PG, so the YA rating is accurate.

The side characters in this story are lovable. Everyone has distinct personalities and thought-out characteristics and arcs. The only characters I would nitpick would be Ellis's parents. At the beginning of this book, the parents' reasoning for Ellis moving to Bramblefalls was silly to me. It felt sort of like a plot point of how am I going to get my character to this town. I had a feeling that there was going to be a bigger reason revealed later on, but that scene still felt off. Pulling your kid, who is a senior, who has an internship lined up, to move hours away for only three months seems silly.

I read this book in the course of a few days and basically binged it all in one. It was a really quick read, and I did not want to put this book down. It put me in the fall vibe, and I am ready to hit up a small town like Bramblefalls. I will be recommending this book to anyone who wants an autumnal read.

Okay this was actually so fun. Imagine every cozy autumn vibe and a hallmark small town had a baby and you get this book. I loved it.

The town was so charming. Like I found myself wanting to go to the pumpkin prom?? Honestly who doesn't want a pumpkin propmposal. It just felt so real and fresh like a place I could actually see myself visiting.

The characters were 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻. Even the side characters were really interesting and dynamic. One of my favorites was actually the mmcs best friend he was just so funny. There were definitely some emotional moments too that I wasn't expecting but man they come up on you real fast. Definitely would read from this author again.

Thank you so much to Simon Teen for the complimentary copy of this book!

This book will be out on Sept 2nd.

Have you ever read a book that felt like a warm cozy cup of fall? That was this book for me.
I am fairly certain I have never read a book that gave me so many feelings towards fall. Fall had always been my favorite season until this year when Spring nudged it out of top spot. But this book certainly made me question that.

The way that Wilson describe Bramble Falls made me want to get in my car and book a trip for one of their many autumnal festivities.
Seriously having a fall event every weekend sounds like such a dream! And even the way she describe the area of this cozy town. It also made me excited for the fall drinks (I try to save pumpkin until at least mid September).

Okay this book! This was the exact type of book I needed to read. I had been reading either subpar or heavier theme books recently and just needed something light. I was sucked into the story pretty much right away. I felt so bad for Ellis. Her parents separation (and eventual divorce) came out of nowhere and if that wasn't bad, having to move to a new town during her senior year. That is a lot of changes all at once. Ellis had this one track goal - to go to Columbia and to work for her father's company. What she hadn't expected was forging friendships and new relationship that made her question everything that she ever wanted.

"I remember all your details, Cooper Barnett. They're my favorite thing to memorize."

I love her relationship with her cousin Sloane. She is like the sister that she never had. Sloane was so welcoming and they just instantly reconnected after not seeing one another for awhile. What also stood out in this book are the side characters. I love the friendships that Ellis developed while being there. From what the reader gathers of her life in NYC is that she only had 1 friend (Fern - who is really fabulous) and pretty much did not have any social life. Her love interest Cooper really opened her eyes up. They had a great summer 4 years ago and we learned why they stopped talking and the insecurities Cooper has towards her. Cooper is the sweetest and I felt so bad for him when things started to hit the fan with Ellis.

This appears to be part of a series and I do wonder who will be in the 2nd book. Part of me hopes that Jake gets to find love. He was such a fun character and I know she would be such a golden retriever to his love interest. And I am hoping that the love interest will be Fern.

I highly recommend this book if you want a book to put you in the fall feels with a sweet high school romance!

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing for a complimentary early copy of Falling Like Leaves by Misty Wilson.

Falling Like Leaves was such a sweet enjoyable read for me. During the start of the book I was a bit iffy about Ellis’s character but she grew on me quickly. When she starts getting involved in the autumn festival I knew I was going to be in for a good time. I loved the way she went about the festival activities and the way she interacted with the small town people of Bramble Falls. There are so many cute and wholesome scenes with her interacting with the people or just her friend group in general that it already had me thinking that Bramble Falls has been her home since the beginning.

When Cooper was introduced I liked him immediately, this small town golden boy is so loveable. I was instantly routining for the romance between the two, the tension with them is so good and I couldn’t wait to figure what happened or where things were going to go. They also have so many cute scenes together that made me laugh and smile but they also scenes that felt really raw and heartfelt. These two both went through a lot of emotions regarding each other and it shows. I’m happy with how things had wrapped up for them. Cooper and Ellis are an amazing couple, I think they are both good for each other.

Aside from the romance another big part about this book is the fall atmosphere. Bramble Falls made an amazing cozy fall setting, I loved the little descriptive bits regarding the town scenery and the festival. The autumn festival events were so fun to read about not only because of the scenery but because of the characters and the people of Bramble Falls. The friendships in Falling Like Leaves are nice as well, I feel like the book is equally atmospheric and romantic but it does a good job of adding drama and tension between characters too.

The messaging of the book especially towards the end surprised me but in a good way. This book ended up being a bit more than just a cozy romance fall read, it’s about learning to be yourself, being more bold, living in the moment, taking risk, and much more. Overall I’m very pleased with this book! I didn’t know until now that fall atmospheres or small towns would become a favorite of mine but i’m excited to read more like this!

I liked this YA fall love story quite a bit. I enjoyed the Stars Hollow-esque town and why the main character found herself moving there. The friendships she formed and the volunteering she did was all great! What lacked here was characterization. I was in the FMC’s head, but I knew her just as well as I knew every other character (whose heads I wasn’t in). I wish I could’ve seen more of her feelings since I was spending so much time with her. All in all-a cute fall read, but not one I’ll revisit or that’ll stick with me.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
