The development of plot and characters from the first book to this is so compelling. The dual timelines is so engaging really makes me want to find out how tea got there. Love the queer rep.

I love the world in which this story is set, how the magic works, the political intricacy, how real the characters feel! I do, I think it's brilliant and amazing!

My love for this world has not diminished from the first book and neither did I think this part of the story less interesting - much on the contrary, I've found it brilliant! And the way the story is told, from following the Bard in the "present" to following Tea in the "past" in a form of being her telling him the tale, works wonderfully!

Why less a star, then? I found a lot of errors on the pages. I didn't keep track or anything, this is not some sort of call out, these things happen. It did, although, make it a bit harder to follow a story I'm already a bit wobbly on. (See? I used "wobbly" on a review, I believe the mature thing to do is not pay my words any mind, there you go.) I like feeling wobbly on the story, which is why I keep reading! Looking forward to bringing it all together in the end, it's the fun part! But the errors made it a bit harder... And no, I didn't imagine it, I showed one to another reader who found it strange too. Again, it happens, this is not a call out of any kind, the story is wonderful and so are the books! I'm just explaining why the low stars when I'm still loving the books.

I am so glad there’s a progress being made in this book. The first one was definitely interesting, I had never read a book like it, but I have to be honest, it was taking too long with all the world build up, and too many cryptic in the way Future Tea took hold of the story line. That being said, I still think Future Tea’s storyline was much more interesting than the Past Tea. It was the same with the second book, Dark Future Tea was definitely more interesting. And though the readers are still left in the dark in regards to what the hell happened that turned Tea into a dark revenge seeking character, in the second book we know more and that is a relief. I almost lost it if I have to guess again, much like I did in the first book.

I think the second book has finally held its grip, there were not too many unnecessary explanations. At this point the reader has understood more about the world, the kingdoms, and whatnot, but I have to say, there were still some parts to the story that could have been cut short instead of wasting too many words.

The heart forager took off right where book one ended. Middle books in fantasy trilogies tend to be rife with too much detail but the heart forager was the perfect balance of intrigue, action and back story. Excited to read the finale.

The audiobook is really good.
