فرض کنین درگیر اینکه از پارتنر قبلیتون حامله شدین هستین و فکر میکنین خب دیگه از این بدتر نمیشه تا اینکه ادما یکی یکی شروع میکنن به کشتن خودشون

4.5 Unfortunately Goodreads doesn't have half stars, I give this 4.5. this first novel by Josh Malerman is slick and scary without showing or revealing very much at all. I don't like horror, blood and gore, gratuitous violence, but this first book is subtle by preying on your mind - what's out there? What does it look like? Are "they" real or is this some environmental accident? On and on the questions go .....

This is a gripping story and I read it cover to cover in two sittings. Great fun, great read, and no doubt it will be a terrific movie next Halloween if some Hollywood producer is smart enough to grab and option this book.

My only quibble would be the ending .... and I won't reveal my quibble as it will give away the ending but I really look forward to more from Josh Malerman. Great first book, thanks for the heart pounding ride!

Gripping. Nerve wracking. Creepy. Sometimes graphic.

Made me think about what it means to be a good mother in an impossible world. Made me ache for the babies.

I would have liked to see a final confrontation with the crazy-not-crazy guy. I don't think there was a single instance of someone successfully defending themselves against a gone-mad person. Also I was sure that she was going to have to kill her housemates herself.

4.5 stars. good pacing. freaky concept. a solid example of how the book is better than the movie.

New Favorite ❤️ Fuck! This one got me. So good. Something terrifying is killing people, but no one knows what it is or where it came from. Malorie and her two children, who’ve lived in an abandoned house near the river, has dreamed of fleeing to a place where they might be safer. Interweaving past and present, Bird Box is a snapshot of a world unraveled that will have you racing to the final page!

This is definitely an author I need to start following!

Minimalist writing and decent suspense don't make up for the completely ludicrous timeline and ending.

So much better than the Netflix movie - and I actually enjoyed the movie. The book is more brutal and presents a more rounded protagonist.

Great suspense novel that pulls similar strings are Blindness, but where that was a political statement of sudden blindness, this works on a fear of an unknown threat that attacks via sight. I wish more questions were answered at the end, but it does have a mostly satisfying conclusion.
