Horizon is the final instalment in the Soul Seeker series and now it’s over I want more which isn’t what I was thinking when I first started to read the series.
The final instalment picks up a few months after Mystic and the tragic death of Daire’s grandmother Paloma at the hands of Cade Ritcher.
All Daire can think about is getting her revenge but Dace can only think of keeping the evil inside of him inside.
During this time all Daire seems to do is train and hone her inherited skills so that she can once and for all destroy Cade and Leandro.
During the six months the Ritchers have started to rebuild the Rabbit Hole night club.
Where Daire is dealing with her loss and her new role as the only seeker, Dace has to deal with the fact that he has evil in him who wants to come out and play but Dace wants to keep it locked inside so he doesn’t hurt the girl he loves. He wants to use this evil to take down his family before Daire gets the chance to.
Throughout the story you get the other character point of views such as Xotichl’s struggle with regaining her sight and her boyfriend Auden’s new found successful music career. We also get a look at Lita’s life living in Paloma’s house with her angel boyfriend Axel now he is no longer an angel.
Although this is the final instalment it ends on a cliff-hanger. Yes they kill all the Ritchers and manage to save Dace but then it just ends, no I won’t accept that, we need to see what happens now the upper, middle and lower worlds are safe from evil.
This final book does give the final showdown between good and evil and of course good wins.
I do believe that there should be another book just to tie up all the things at the end of Horizon. So we can see them all having the happy ever after that Daire saw but we didn’t get to experience.

boring books, the main character is a brat teen. the main idea was good but the writing was awful.
It was pretty decent.
I don’t have much to add besides that though, so…

This book ended on a mediocre level. I was happy with the characters and where they ended in the book but I think the ending was flat compared to what it could have been. There was so much potential and I feel like some elements were left unexplained or not developed to what they could have been.
I never really loved this series, but I wanted to finish it, because I hate unfinished series. Horizon is already the 10th book of Alyson Noel that I have read. It will also be the last because I have no intentions on reading anything other by this author. Her writing style is so melodramatic sometimes. I actually found the ending to be a little disappointing. I thought this book would be a little better because it was the last, but it clearly wasn't. I'm glad I was finally able to finish this series.
Well, this is the 4th book in the series and mostly, the further you go in a bookseries, the more boring the books get... With this bookseries it's just the opposite!!! This is the best book of the series, while the first part was pretty slow in unfolding the story.. To conclude: it was the best book of the series!

- Sober tone
- Love conquers all
- A happy but open ended conclusion
Horizon is more sober than the previous books.
I’m not sure if it was the pacing and the mood, or the fact that I was just growing jaded reading this series, but I struggled to get through the first 100 pages.
I think this book is probably the best written out of the series… but I enjoyed the plot the least. That’s probably just a me thing.
It felt like the villains were mostly bark instead of bite. There’s just so much monologging in every book.
The ending was good. It makes you wonder what’s going to happen in the future, but it also delivers a promise of happiness for our protagonists.
In the end, Xotchil’s sight is returned to how it originally was at the start of the series. She realizes that she allowed the ableism to get to her and lost confidence in herself. I liked this development, but I’m not sure that her friends learned anything from how their behavior affected Xotchil. Lita is immediately like “Omg! No! How could you wish to be blind again?” I just think it could have been more of a teaching moment.
I really did like the characters in this series, but I’m a sucker for found family so that’s not too surprising.
Graphic: Death, Grief, Murder
Minor: Death of parent, Pregnancy
Slow in parts and had a harder time finishing than the previous books. Hard to read in certain spots. I didn't like to read Lita's P.O.V. and felt it messed with the feel of the book. I understand Xotichl and Auden's side-plot has a part in the book that works with the main plot, but it was distracting to read the different perspectives. Especially Lita's parts; I felt like reading her parts added nothing important to the book. I like her character but felt as though her own perspective and others messed with what I knew this whole series (Daire & Dace perspectives ONLY).
Ending sets up for possible next book, but this is last in the series. Plus, Daire's future shows her having kids with Dace, but Marliz has a Richter in her belly?? Will they kill pregnant Marliz and destroy the last tourmaline easy-squeezy? Seems like an odd place to end a series. Coyote versus Santos must continue for more generations to come. Just a little disappointing considering we've followed Daire so far and now it really isn't over with another Richter on the way.
Aside from the many perspectives in this book, I didn't mind the plot and enjoyed Dace figuring out the Echo/beast inside him.
