Found the first 75% of the book really slow, since it's world building, but the last 25% was honestly really good!

mehhhhh this was not for me. the plot was super draggy and the characters weren’t interesting enough to make up for it. plus there were extended, graphic battle scenes every few pages. also I still don’t know exactly why they were stealing children which is a major plot point??

SUCH A GOOD STORY OMGGGG, also how dare you end that on a cliffhanger, i need more.

Each character drew me in and kept me entertained. The stories told and the world was deeply satisfying to read about and i connected with the characters and their struggles.

I NEED to read book 2 right now.

What a whirlwind! I was not expecting the crazy journey this book took me on, but I am not complaining. The writing throws you right in and there's a subtle climb in tension before everything erupts into bloody action, one character after another encountering absolute chaos. But then there's a tender moment or another oath being sworn and all is right with the world, even though you know no one you've grown attached to is going to live. Can't wait to start the next one!

This one took me forever to finish, it really tested my commitment. The slow pace and heavy expository world-building made it a challenge to get into at first, but I understand it was all necessary groundwork for the series. That said, the ending absolutely made it worth it. It was giving serious Game of Thrones vibes. The dramatic ending has definitely encouraged me to keep going with the series.
