Sweet story with a twist in the bedroom. I really liked how the author handled the two bottom challenge.

I found this story quite sweet and gentle. It was the story of Bridger coming to terms with the fact that he was 'not straight'. After building an online friendship with Stone and one date, things don't quite work out as Bridger had hoped. When they eventually do reunite, the story took an unexpected path when it focused on building a relationship when sexual desires don't quite mesh.

Bridger is new to the concept of dating men. In fact, he's really only comfortable labeling himself as "not straight" and nothing more. His path of exploration leads him online where he meets Stone, who seems interesting, and convinces him to go on a date. While Bridger enjoys himself and feels a connection, Stone doesn't seem to feel the same way, telling Bridger the time isn't right, leaving Bridger feeling a bit blown off--and suspecting it has to do with his inexperience. While Bridger sets out to find someone else, he can't help thinking that Stone really is the one and wondering if he might somehow get him to come around.

This was a simple and easy to follow story. The characters are interesting (though we don't get too much of Stone) and everything seems to flow well. Plot-wise, I would have like to see more in the way of relationship development--a bit more of a build--but it wasn't so stark that it really detracted from the overall story.

This book didn't work for me. There was too much telling rather than showing. I felt like someone was telling me about a book instead of experiencing it myself. I also didn't sense any chemistry between the MCs. Those who've read my review of Trouble & the Wallflower know my thoughts on the dilemma these two guys found themselves facing.

Such a sweet story. I liked how the differences in sexual needs were written. I enjoyed watching these two find a HEA.

The Publisher Says: “I’m not straight” is how Bridger Jenkins came out. That’s all he’s comfortable claiming at first, even if he’s more than willing to experiment sexually with men to find out what being not straight means in practice. Several horrid dates leave him feeling frustrated, so he retreats to a familiar online gay forum for support. There, he runs across Stone Moore, whose profile says he’s only interested in friendship. After hours of easy conversation, Stone agrees to go on a date.

During their amazing evening together, Bridger shares that he’s new to dating men. This seems to throw Stone off, yet the date ends with a steamy kiss. When Stone later tells Bridger the time isn’t right for them, Bridger is hurt and confused. He realizes he must’ve come off as bi-curious, naïve, and insecure. Bridger knows he needs to feel comfortable in this new skin of his and that he won’t find love until he’s more at ease.

Bridger isn’t thrilled to remain in Stone’s friend zone but contents himself with their late night chats and goes out with other men, which both strengthens and disheartens him. His dissatisfying dates reinforce what he already knows: he won’t find anyone else as amazing as Stone. Eventually, he’s bold enough to ask Stone out on another date. Will they date again? Have they found their soul mates, or will they each discover something about the other that causes them to go their separate ways?

This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love’s Landscapes" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.

My Review: Charming and winsome. Very sweet couple, very nice tale of coming to terms with reality and not letting Fantasy Perfection dominate your actual life. Make love don't fake love, as my first boyfriend said to me. It's something we create, love, and it's a darn good idea to get the party of the second part involved and interested in the love you're making before there's a party of three, four, or more that's crowding around.

I'm a bitter old bastard and I don't believe in Happily Ever After, but I'll damn sure run with it in fiction! This scratched my itchy HEA spot for the day. Need yours done? Read this charming little bagatelle.

This story was lovely. Easy to read and full of emotion. It was an emotional subject to cover, but handled so well it didn't feel full of angst despite the fact that I actually felt quite desperate when the two characters spent some time apart to "think things over". Despite knowing the prompt had asked for a happy ending the writer still made me worry for a little while.
I like that this was about the deep connection between two people and not just about the sex. It was about their finding a way to be together that wasn't focused on the bedroom which so many stories don't seem to do.
I love that Bridger and Stone stayed together and found a happy compromise, that their love for each other was enough to overcome something that could have easily caused their break up.
Too many relationships in stories and in real life, are based on sex alone. Theirs most definitely isn't. Despite their different, or rather, similar needs in the bedroom the foundation for their relationship was already formed and the depth of their bond made them want to work it all out. That's how relationships should be.
