Love story was incredible and it would've been a 4+ if they never went to war. I really enjoyed the narration from Patroclus, but it was difficult to keep up with all the names and remember who was who. Achilles also really annoyed me towards the end of the book and it slightly tainted the love story for me.

A perfect retelling of the Illiad.

I don't think I will, in the near future at least, read a book with a more alluring, divine, stunning,... love story than the one in this book. The author's ability to showcase the love and friendship between the two main characters by just using words baffles me.
I especially loved the first part of the book; the way the freshness of an Ancient Greek summer is used to accentuate the pureness of Achilles and Patroclus' relationship.
I don't want to spoil anyone, this is definitely a book anyone should read at least once.

Loved this book in it's entirety almost if not for the slightly off putting characterization of Patroclus. However, beca se it is such a beautifully written piece of work, it can mostly be ignored.
