4/5 stars

Never could I ever have foreseen myself rereading this series in 2020 and being sad at its ending.

Rereading this series has been such a nostalgic and bittersweet experience. My five star ratings for these books are heavily biased by the fact that these were the first books I read and really loved, the first books in my book collection, and the first books to show me how a book can suck you in and make you feel so much.

There's nothing groundbreaking in this series, except for maybe how groundbreakingly problematic it is and none of us realized it back in 2005 as kids/preteens. I had a lot of fun rereading this though. It was the perfect escape from 2020.

These characters will always hold a special place in my heart. The Cullen's are hands-down one of my favorite fictional families.

(yes the movie ending was way better so this just has to be 4 stars)

This series has been a RIDE. I can't deny that I was interested in finishing this book in a way that reminded me of when we were younger and we would just CONSUME books. At the same time I can't actually describe the book (and the series) as actually being good.

All of the endings tie up but it somehow both makes it seem too convenient to be satisfying and leaves weird little extras in case there's space for extra content (the whole cast of new vampires, the werewolf lore). I'd argue that there's too much going on so certain things aren't fleshed out. There's a pot of weight on the last book in any series, and whilst there isn't anything glaringly wrong - it does a decent job - it's just LACKING somehow.

Overall I kind of love the series for what it is, simultaneous dull, awkward, sense-lacking dialogue mixed in with whatever crack the early 2000's books had to make them so addictive.

I give the whole Twilight series; 3 stars ☆☆☆

Kdybych ji četla před lety, možná by to dopadlo líp. Možná...
