Thank you Hyperion Avenue and Netgalley for providing me with an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Y’all I am obsessed with this!! Tangled is one of my all time favoueite Disney films and this book captured its essence perfectly while still standing strong as its own contemporary romance.

Ren was an absolute delight. She was naive but intelligent, uncertain but brave, sheltered but outgoing. Her wide-eyed curiosity and friendliness made me love her instantly, just the way everyone she came into contact with did.

Except Fitz. And god, I loved how much Fitz was annoyed by her at the start. It made the way he softened towards her until he was falling for her so much more delicious to read. I especially loved the transition from Fitz to Edward, the way their growing trust and his change was reflected in the text that way.

I loved their relationship. I always love a road trip story and this one was just so stupidly sweet. Obviously, being a fan of Tangled, I knew where the plot was headed, but parts of it still managed to take me by surprise which was awesome.

I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a light, fluffy romance read.

I received this book for free as part of a giveaway on goodreads. Anything with Christina Lauren on it is calling my name and Tangled is my favorite of the Disney Princess movies so I was so excited to get my hands on this!

It very loosely follows the concept of Tangled, but with a modern day twist. Ren has lived off the grid her whole life and finally convinces her parents to let her go to college. There, she meets Fitz, known as a bit of a playboy around campus, who shows her around and is in one of her classes. After a bit of blackmail, Ren finds herself tagging along on Fitz’s spring break road trip where they go from acquaintances, to friends and eventually end up feeling a mutual attraction that they can’t ignore. At the end of the trip, Fitz has learned a lot about himself and what he wants to do with his future and Ren’s whole life splits wide open.

As for my opinion?
CUTE!! I love a clean/closed door romance and this hit all the boxes for me. A sweet growing relationship with a little bit of innocence, and some kisses but everything else implied.
This story did such a good job of tying into the Disney theme and I loved the modern take of a road trip. It took me far too long to see the similarities in some of the names: the car, Max = horse, Maximus, etc. but all the other connections I caught onto really quickly and thought while similar in concept to the Tangled movie was completely original.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and I can wait for everyone to read it! I haven’t read any of the other books in the “Meant to Be” series but this has me adding the other to my TBR!

Christina Lauren delivers an entertaining, charming story that any fan of fairy tales will enjoy. If being honest, I’ve never seen the movie Tangled and am not familiar with the storyline, so when it comes to comparing to the inspiration, I’m afraid I’m not much help. What I can do, is tell you that either way, this story is filled with whimsy and is the perfect amount amusing and romantic. It’s very easy to love Ren and Fitz, both for their individual stories as well as who they are together. I really enjoyed their evolution and although it’s set in a short time period, it felt natural.

Not knowing Tangled, I didn’t expect the twist at the end, and it definitely wasn’t something I’ve read before. While I had my guesses (and wasn’t far off), it was different enough to keep me captivated until the end.

Any fan of CL’s will not be disappointed with this book…I gobbled it up in the span of a few hours. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Ren has lived on her parents homestead for 20 years and she is finally heading college but life is much different then on Homestead.

This a fairytale retelling with a modern twist. I at first did not like the FMC. I felt like the author wrote her very immature and she was driving me crazy. But as the storyline we saw Ren grow as a person and the chemistry with the MMC Fitz.

I liked the way Christina Lauren mixed in the parentage that needed to happen with a Rapunzel retelling. The storyline didn’t seem very rushed.

Ren had good chemistry with not rushing anything as Ren is suppose to be this inexperienced farm girl.

Christina Lauren has always been an auto-buy author so when I saw that the duo wrote a Disney retelling, I decided to give it a try!

I did personally struggle with the writing style and pacing. I found it was a lot of telling, repetition, and slower plot.

Overall, this was a cute read and will be perfect for your beach bag this summer! It will be the perfect light and fluffy read.

What I Did Like:
+The change that comes over the character and the entire vibe of the book following an early class assignment revelation is intense and welcome. Just as you’re ready to give up on this character, the switch is flipped and things move in a new direction. It’s perfectly timed.
+Great fast action from the arrival in Atlanta to the end. You’ll want to read that part all in one sitting!
+The modern spin on the Rapunzel fairy tale is well done. There’s enough of the fairy tale left in it to be pleasant and all the modernization makes SENSE!

Who Should Read This One:
-Fans of the Tangled movie who want a modern retelling.
-YA romance fans who want a cute romance wrapped in a road trip story.

My Rating: 4 Stars
