Rapunzel has never been my favorite story but I liked how this author did the story. Ren is the Golden Girl everyone loves and it's hard not to enjoy her fresh outtake on life. Fitz is completely her opposite but I like how he changes. Still, there was something missing from the story that made this a 4-star read for me.

This was such a fun, cute Tangled retelling. The parallels were so spot on and fun to spot. With a retelling, there is not much room for plot twists and big shocks, but CLo managed to make the story fresh and interesting.

If you go into this book expecting a typical romance, please keep in mind that this is published by Disney and is a retelling of a Disney movie. It’s goofy, instalove, and PG rated.

Thank you to Hyperion Avenue and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I will begin my review noting that I'm not as familiar with the source material, so any of the references (subtle or overt) weren't ones I caught. That said, I think a reader in a similar situation could benefit from watching the movie prior to reading - I'll be doing that post-reading. As the cover would reveal, this is a spin on Tangled/Rapunzel. And y'all, it was a bit more intense than I was expecting, but reflecting on the original story, that does make sense. Ren is off to college at 22. She's lived a secluded life with her parents, and they've finally let her go to school with lots of rules. Ren meets Fitz as she gets connected to campus, and they have a unique connection. They find themselves on a road trip, and y'all, it is full of SO. MANY. THINGS. This one was a literal ride, and it does get emotional, so be ready for that going in! Thanks to NetGalley for the early look at this June 2024 release.

This book was such a fun read, especially considering Tangled is one of my favorite Disney stories. Sometimes, especially at the beginning, it was hard to draw parallels between the tales. However, once the road trip began, it was fun to catch all the similarities. I really enjoyed the dual perspectives and even though I know the ending of Tangled, it was neat to see how it was interpreted for this novel. I’ve read all of the novels in the Meant to Be Series to date and this one definitely fits in and is an enjoyable read! 4.25⭐️, 0.5🌶

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Tangled Up In You in exchange for my honest opinion.

My favorite Disney movie+my favorite author duo=a book I want to read!!

Ren lives on a remote farm, never went to a traditional school, and her only friends are the barn animals she cares for. She convinces her strict parents to let her go to college. Once there she sticks out like a sore thumb. As she navigates life away from her parents, she realizes just how much different her life is than everyone else's.

On her first day she meets Fitz, a rich, good-looking guy who shows her around campus and charms everyone around him. But Ren has her guard up, she's not going to fall for his charm.

They share a class together and do a DNA analysis for a class project where Ren finds out some surprising information. She finds Fitz cheating and blackmails him to let her join him on his cross country spring break trek to find the answers she's looking for.

Ren's life is turned upside down and she has to figure out a way to make it all make sense. Why did this happen to her? Will she be able to trust again?

There are a lot of parallels between this book and the movie but different enough to keep it interesting. It's truly a modern-day retelling!

I did find the ending a little abrupt and wanted a little more but overall a great read!

Ren Gylden lived a very sheltered life. She and her parents lived off the grid and she had been home schooled. At twenty-two, Ren talked her parents into letting her go to a college nearby. She was shocked and very excited when they cautiously agreed. A whole new world opened up for her. It brought a surprise she never saw coming.

This Tangled remake was very enjoyable. I loved Ren and her wish to expand her experiences. She seemed to make friends wherever she went on campus. Initially, Fitz did not feel as friendly toward Ren because he saw her as competition in his quest to be the top student in all of his classes. While on a road trip to Nashville, Ren and Fitz started to see each other in a different light. Each was a mystery to the other, but over time, they started to understand more about the other's motivations. It was fun to watch each one slowly come to the realization that this might be my person. The ending was perfect and tied any loose ends neatly into a bow. I was smiling at the end.

I received an e-ARC for Tangled Up in You and want to thank Christina Lauren, Hyperion Avenue, and NetGalley for the opportunity to voluntarily read and give an honest review of this book. Tangled Up in You will be published on June 25, 2024.
