This book was a lot of fun. I think I may have enjoyed it more than the first book in the series. I love how Monroe, despite being dragged into the situation, ends up being the piece missing that prevented Broderick and Shiloh from ever entering into a relationship. It almost felt like once the three were together they were finally able to begin healing from the experiences they had as children and how they were brought up.

This story revolves around three strong-willed characters as they get to know each other beyond their first impressions and existing relationships.

I like the changes that Monroe's very presence kick-starts, though I wish we were shown more on how Broderick learns to accept/explore the side of him that's beyond the persona of the calm caretaker that he had taken up for his brothers. There's a glimpse of it, but the story seems to focus more on Shiloh and Monroe, which is cool, too.

This book got quite a few laughs out of me! Love the progressiveness of it. I think it's better than Abel's story, but I'm not satisfied with the ending.
It went too smoothly all around. Monroe's mother agrees to step down, just like that? And they accept it? No suspicions at all? Then Abel agrees to let Broderick go without a fight? He didn't even know what the hell was going on with Broderick for the past few days, if his questions were anything to go by. It all went down too smoothly. There was barely a climax.

I'm still confused about the state of the world that this story is set in. It's urban, and there isn't any magic, but there is this city or community, the valley, where murder and leader takeovers are a thing? There's no larger government than the community's own leaders and the rules that they set? Is this a post-apocalyptic world or what? That's how I've been reading it at least.

I received an advance copy as part of Katee Robert’s Patreon. This in no way influences my review; all words; thoughts, and opinions are my own.

Omg omg omg this was so good!!!!!! I’ve been looking forward to Broderick and all of Katee’s teasers have just amped up my anticipation. And this did not disappoint in the least! I love Monroe so much; she’s vicious and feral and so full of heart. She is definitely one of my all-time favorite heroines! I love the navigation of friendship to lovers between Broderick and Shiloh, as well as the navigation of all three of them to find a balance that works for them. The ending was so good and ahh I cannot wait for Cohen next! Especially with little glimpses of Winry, I can’t wait to get a fuller picture of her outside being Monroe’s little sister.
